Video Passports is what happens when you take a good thing and make it even better. So let's begin our story by telling you about the "good thing."
Over 20 years ago Video Passports co-founder, DEVON ERICSON, started a travel video production company called SeaVid and began writing, shooting, and editing onboard programming for major cruise lines. The programs were designed to give cruise passengers an informative and entertaining look at their ports-of-call.
Everyone who saw the videos loved them...and demanded to see more! For many, being able to see what was in store for them and plan ahead was absolutely essential to ensuring the success of their vacation.
Over time SeaVid developed thousands of award-winning programs featuring all of the must-see, must-do attractions and activities in the world's most popular tourist destinations. Eventually their clientele grew to include such well-known companies as Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line and many others. Their product offering grew as well with the creation of souvenir videos and a series of travel DVDs distributed nationally in major retail outlets.
This is where the "good thing" gets even better.
Never one to rest on her laurels, Devon thought it would be a great idea to leverage SeaVid's existing, consumer-proven assets and provide them to a much broader audience. Of course, the most effective way to do this is through the Internet.
Summoning the help of former SeaVid business development director and web site producer, ERIC NELSON, it was decided to found a new Internet company called Video Passports. The idea was to provide travelers with a video-based web site where they can SEE where they're going, PLAN and book their vacations, and SHARE their travel experiences with friends and family. After a year of research and planning, a CEO was hired, a tech team assembled, and Video Passports was born.
Of course, what you see on the web site today is just the first chapter in what promises to be an on-going story of seeing and sharing what the world has to offer.
